For her 13th birthday, Alexus requested a Skittles cake! I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull that one off, but I eventually found a way. The cake was half chocolate and half vanilla with butter cream icing. I decided to not go overboard with the Skittles all over the cake, but maybe I should have put more on it. Every child requested a “piece with Skittles on it” when they got their piece of cake. I even caught the really young kids swiping Skittles off the top when I wasn’t looking. Luckily, I had two big bags of Skittles that I put out to keep all the Skittles Lovers happy! I admit that I am a Skittles lover too. My favorites are the red and purple! What are your favorites?

I didn’t even know what a Ninjago was until I got two Ninjago Brithday cake requests!!! My friends and co-workers Sally and Vivian both trusted me with making birthday cakes for their boys’  birthdays The red one was for Alex and was golden vanilla flavored.

Vivian requested a green bordered cake for her son Jonathan because green is his favorite color. The cake was triple chocolate fudge flavored. Check out all the fun pictures below of everyone enjoying the cakes. The smiles you see are the reasons that I LOVE making and decorating cakes

I have to apologize for being out of the food blogging loop for many days, but I am back in action. Life has just been crazy busy! One thing that has been keeping me busy is cupcakes I had two special orders recently! My friend Katie requested some Texas Rangers cupcakes for her husband’s 30th Birthday. I was more than happy to make cupcakes for one of my favorite teams, and I love decorating with red, white, and blue.

The other request was for our recent staff meeting at work. We recently just had a new logo created. To celebrate, I had edible cupcake toppers made with the new logo! I absolutely love how they turned out I used a variety of colored sugar crystals to rim the cupcakes, but only the blue, red, and yellow are shown here.

Hope everyone is doing well! I promise Megan’s Munchies will be updated more often now that things are slowing down a little bit.

My latest cake request was for a 13th birthday celebration with a NBA Playoff theme. I love the red and blue colors! As much as I like the cake, I had an absolute blast making the cupcakes. When I ordered the edible cupcake toppers, the final standings for the playoffs were not determined. So some of the teams that were in the top rankings at that time did not make the playoffs.

The cake and cupcakes were red velvet with butter cream frosting. I used  colored sugars coordinating with the team logos to accent the cupcakes. I have to admit that the blue cupcakes are my favorites.

The birthday boy’s mother was extremely happy with the cake and cupcakes. The smile on her face when she saw them is exactly why I love to make cakes!
