I am always trying to slip some extra protein into my diet, because I am not much of a meat eater, and I don’t get enough vegetarian sources of protein. I know I need more protein for nutrition reasons and to support my workouts. My favorite ways to use protein powder is in my oatmeal and in homemade treats, like my Protein Power Pumpkin Cookies pictured above. I see lots of food bloggers incorporating protein powder in their foods and thought you all would be interested in this article I found: 21 Foods To Mix With Protein Powder. Check out this list of food/protein powder combinations. There are some interesting ones that I would never have imagined. You will have to follow the link and read the article to see how protein powder can be combined with each of these foods. Protein powder in mashed potatoes? Really? I would love to hear more interesting ways that you all use protein powder!

Yummy! Need to take these on my bike rides.
Your pumpkin protein cookies sound great!
I have a recipe for choc. chip cookies with chickpeas that actually tastes fabulous. I should really make them. Adds a little protein although probably no more than using nuts in the cookies. I like the taste with the chickpeas though.
This is a recipe and post right after my own heart. A girl that cooks with protein powder? You’re something special Meg
Protein Powder is a great way to add protein to baked goods.
I made a really great tasting batch of banana protein muffins the other day. I couldn’t believe how good they were.
The cookies I make john every week have protein powder in them

and i bet it’s delicious too!
I make my own protein bars (recipe to be posted soon! – just perfecting it).
I also do smoothies and drinks like this Strawberry Julius recipe – http://www.onefrugalfoodie.com/2009/05/01/homemade-strawberry-julius-the-best-workout-reward-ever/
Lets see, my latest is whisking a tablespoon into my salad dressing.
And, I make many protein bites simply by combining nut butter, protein powder, and honey, plus some cinnamon and shaping them into little balls/bites.
Because of the type of protein powder we use, I pretty much only use it in uncooked applications.
Awesome list! I will definitely keep that handy and of course the cookies look super good!
Have a great day!
I love breakfast cookies for adding protien power too!
creative!!!
Yum, these would be great after a workout.
Now I need to make some more of those pumpkin cookies! HOLY YUM!
i always add protein to my morning oats and to baked goods. i love to make pudding with it too (it’s easy to do from scratch; you don’t need a mix!).
your cookies look great!
This is good to know megan, even though I work in a restaurant I don’t always eat right. Thanks!
I LOVE the idea of pumpkin cookies. I loved protein powder for a while. I made smoothies with it – ice cream+banana+protein powder+almond milk==yum!
I just bought some Spirutein protein powder, it’s delish and I never thought it could be used in so many things! Haha except the fact that it’s double chocolate fudge flavor- i’ll have to use SOME discretion, but still!!
Wonderful looking cookies! I bet they taste delicious!
Cheers,
Rosa
Great health tip and gorgeous cookies!
LOVE that protein mixer list. I’m always looking for new ways to up the protein in my diet and these ideas are definitely going to help!
and damn do those cookies look spectacular!
Protein powder in food? interesting! The cookies sounds delicious!
i guess it would be pretty easy to add it to lots of stuff. thanks for the article!
Mmm those cookies look muy delicioso! I’d much rather get my protein in a sweet (vs savory) way
Thanks for the link Megan!
I’ve actually been using tofu and adding that to my muffins, adding it to smoothies.
I don’t even like tofu if its by itself, but it makes my muffins so moist, with minimal fat and you can’t even taste it with a mixed berry smoothie!
