When I’m busy, the easiest thing to do is to do all the prep work for meals a head of time. Sunday nights are often a big cooking night for me – I’ll do all my chopping, divvying and cooking that night in big batches then put them all into smaller ones to have as grab and go’s for the week.
It works perfectly
I’ll go tweet you now!
I also do my chopping ahead of time. One container onions, one container garlic, one container herbs, etc. Then you can just reach in and grab what you need. Nice and easy.

Wow, these sound great to try. I simplify my meals by incorporating left overs when ever I can. When ever I use left overs it saves so much time and preparation.
Also you’re on my google reader does that count as subsribing.
First let me thank you for sharing this with everyone that is very kind of you. When I know I am going to have a busy week I try on Sunday to do all prep work for meals that week it really makes things easier to complete. I don’t feel so pressured that way.
As soon as I get home from the grocery store, I start washing, cutting, marking and storing the items in freezer bags. Mixes I put all the dry ingredients together and store for when I need them. Then I will add the wet items to the mix when I am ready to use it. This helps me and I am able to just pull out what I need for a meal.

I prechop all my veggies so once the pan is hot I’m ready to go!
I let the kids in the kitchen to mix together ingredients–I can keep an eye on them while I do the rest of the prep!
I will cook in large batches and freeze the leftovers, that way I always have a healthy dinner option on hand!
My fiance and I do all our veggie prep on Sundays..we chop all our veggies and get it done so we can easily assemble salads during the week for work.
The cookies look delicious

If I know I have a busy week coming up I roast 2 chickens on Sunday. The leftover chicken can be used during the week for a variety of quick sandwiches & salads…(I’m new here)
De-frost anything frozen I need for the next day’s meal by putting it in the fridge the night before. Nothing worse than coming home to a dinner you had planned but forgot to de-frost!

I make meals ahead of time – I slice up and measure my meat and veggies and put them in zippies and toss in the freezer. Then, I take them out in the morning and let them defrost in the fridge. By the time I get home, they are ready to be cooked! EASY!

I dump everything in my wonderful slow cooker. Today chicken breasts and salsa, why chop veggies when a jar of something has it all done for you………………………..
Cook some brown rice and maybe some baby carrots and healthy dip and dinner is done and good for you too!
I always make extra for leftovers too.(shred chicken, fill tortillas top with sauce and cheese, enchiladas from my leftovers, please)
thank you for the giveaway!

I’d love to try those cookies! YUM!
I know this sounds ridiculous, but I keep a spreadsheet with 50+ recipes that my family loves, complete with ingredients and shopping lists and even a note on how my time the dish takes to prep and cook. On Sundays, which is my big shopping day, I pull out recipes for the week and add them to my master shopping list. It took some time to put together, but now it’s a snap to pull together a food menu for this busy family. It’s also pretty easy to make swaps for seasonal ingredients, or add new recipes into our repertoire. The only downside is that it cuts out all spontaneity for food during the week, which is actually sometimes a blessing with all family members moving in different directions.
What a great giveaway!
mmm . . love cookies, especially the un-processed kind
Sound great! I’ll post it on my blog
I simplify meal prep by doing some of it during the weekend so it’s less work during the week and I like to plan, plan, plan!

When I don’t have time to prep right before making a meal, I plan ahead! Usually I cut up the veggies I’ll be using for the meal or defrost/marinade the chicken I’ll be using a couple of hours earlier, it’s simple and makes for great tasting food!
yum! I’ve been wanting to try these – I love how simple the ingredient list is!
I honestly don’t have any tips for quick meal prep, but almost everythign I cook takes less than a half hour.
And I’m already a subscriber.
I use leftovers quite a bit!
I simplify by cooking things that don’t require a laundry list of ingredients
and of course I subscribe
I always make enough for at least two meals so that I can eat leftovers the next day for lunch. This saves lots of time and energy trying to figure out what to pack!
I try to bake or grill a ton of chicken on Sundays…and I also try to plan my weekly shopping list to include a set of ingredients that can be used in several different meals. This way, I have everything on hand and don’t have to think much before throwing things together during the week!
Also — I’m a new subscriber and I just Tweeted about this. Thanks
I try to pre-cut my vegetables and then store them in the refrigerator.
I subscribe to the blog.
I just saw these at the store and would love to try!
To simplify meals (because I NEVER have time) I buy lots of frozen veggies and prepackaged salads that don’t require much prep. I also try not to eat everything I cook all at one meal so I’ll have something all ready the next day.
I’m a subscriber and I’m also linking this on my blog (http://snickerdoodle.tumblr.com).
mmm these sounds fabbb! I like to cut up veggies early in the week for quick snacks and usually am thinking about what I can do with leftover meats, veggies before I come up with a completely new meal idea.
I start opening cans and getting veggies out of the freezer to cook up a quick and easy concoction which I will roll up into a whole wheat tortilla or wrap.
If I know I have a busy week ahead of me, I do prep the day/weekend before.
The easiest thing I do is prepare two of the same dish and freeze one. It comes in so handy for another busy day. Besides that I rely on my menu planning 100%.
I always try to incorporate dinner leftovers into tomorrow’s lunch. And I always load the dishwasher as I’m cooking, so there’s minimal clean-up to do after dinner!
I am a subscriber to your email and I use my slow cooker. This way when I get home it is ready to go on nights I work late.
I try to prep as much as I can the night before so when I come home, I can mostly throw everything together!
I try to do as much prep as I can on the weekends including planning for all my meals. I also make my lunch when I am cleaning up my dinner.

I can’t live without cooked rice. I’ll make my rice in the morning, and by the time I get home, it’s hot and steamy and yummy
I can leave veggies in the hot rice cooker right when I get home and let them steam for a little bit too, it really takes little to no effort! Plus the rice gets some of the flavors of whatever you put in there.

Ok that’s the max. I LOVE COOKIES!!!
I absolutely love sweet potatoes, so I roast a bunch at once and then store them in the fridge. They reheat wonderfully, and are also really delicious cold!
What we do in my house is make a meal plan then go grocery shopping to make sure we have everything on hand. It really makes it simple and easy when you know what you can make.
Thanks so much!!

I love chopping up all sorts of veggies on Sunday so I can be creative making simple salads, wraps, and stir-fry’s throughout the week. Fresh herbs and spices also kick up the flavor without costing me extra time or pounds too!
I wash and chop veggies/herbs as soon as I buy them. Not only does it save time, it increases my motivation to actually use them!
i love to eat fresh meals, so if i’m really busy, i make something that’s not too complex. my favorite fall backs are breakfast sandwiches, yogurt and salad.
As I’m sure a lot of people have said, when I know I’m going to be really busy I try and do prep work ahead of time, aka Sunday night chopping up a bunch of veggies to throw in a salad so I don’t have to take the time to do it during the week. Also, making multiple servings (making a few cups of rice/pasta/etc and portioning them out) helps me save time as well.
love that so many companies are doing this!! consumers CAN make a difference!
I have subscribed to ur blog! AND I twittered about this give-away, I am @hardhatharri.
To simplify meals at home, I ALWAYS know what I’m going to cook. I create a meal plan, have all ingredients on hand by shopping every Thursday evening and always know today what I’m cooking tomorrow. I LOVE it and get teased constantly about my obsessiveness with my kitchen and grocery store schedule!
Whenever I’m making a dish that uses chicken, steak, or another meat I’ll make extra so I can freeze. Then I can just defrost and use them in another meal later that week!
Thanks so much for the opportunity.
I follow Megan’s Munchies!
Simplifying meals—hmmm, I call my husband at work and tell him to stop by 5 Buck Pizza on the way home!
To simplify, I make double amoounts of a meal if it can be frozen. That way Ill have meals in the freezer for busy times. Thanks for the chance to win:)
Just subscribed to your feed:)
I prepare all my protein ingredients on the weekend. Several pounds of ground beef (up to 5 or 6 lbs at a time) I cook up, drain, then freeze. Same goes for chicken breasts. I will cook them all in the oven at once and then either store them in the fridge if I’m using them that week, or freeze them if I’m not. This saves a TON of time, and you don’t have to heat up the kitchen 5 nights a week cooking up your meat.
Also, I subscribe to Megans Munchies
I simplify by making freezer meals – I’ve been doing a series of posts on this! I’ll have them on hand to thaw out on days when I’m too busy to cook. Doing freezer meals will definitely help simplify meal-making later on when the baby is born.
I make extras of everything I make and freeze plus send for lunches the next day (or when I make pancakes, we have them for a few days). I buy onions pre chopped from my husband’s work and have ready to add to dishes which saves time. I buy items we use frequently in bulk or buy on a buy one get one free special and stock up. By having lots of items that we eat frequently available in our kitchen, it makes it easier not to want to get fast food which is not good for our bodies or our pocket book.
