Girl Scout Cookies…Not Just for Dessert!

It is Girl Scout Cookie Season, and I am patiently awaiting the arrival of the cookies I ordered. My favorite has always been the Samoas, with Thin Mints coming in as a close second. I thought that this year I would incorporate the cookies into some fun recipes. When I started my search, I was focused on dessert and snack recipes, but was intrigued when I found some meal recipes incorporating these yearly sweet treats. Check out these recipes:

Fried Samoas Shrimp

Do-Si-Dos Peanut Thai Chicken

Berry Munch Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad

Of course, I have to share some of the dessert recipes I found:

Thin Mints Cheesecake

Samoas Ice Cream Truffles

Hamburger Cookies

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Lemon Cooler Surprise Pudding

Berry Munch Bread Pudding

So what is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie? Do you have any creative recipes you use when you have leftover Girl Scout Cookies?

Thank you to everyone who voted for my team’s cake….your votes raised money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and our team’s Fall For Me Cake WON!!!!!!!

Cupcakes and bakeries are a big business in NYC! If I had more days there, I would try every cupcake bakery in the city. If anyone wants to sponsor a Cupcake Tour of NYC…just let me know because I am game ;) . Meghann and I stopped in Magnolia Bakery, and making a choice from all the delicious looking cupcakes proved to be extremely difficult.

I decided on the traditional vanilla decorated for Valentine’s and it was amazing!!! The cake and the icing were perfect!

On my last day in NYC, I decided to have cupcakes for lunch and visited Eleni’s in Chelsea Market.

I choose two mini vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing and a side of George Clooney! All the sweet treats were delicious!

Oh man…now I am craving cupcakes! I may have to bake up a batch and hope they come close to tasting like the treats I had in NYC :)

Stranded in NYC: Part 2

On the second day of being stranded in NYC, Meghann and her mom took me on yet another adventure through the city. We started with breakfast at Sarabeth’s Bakery. I had the porridge topped with brown sugar, bananas, and raisins. I eat oatmeal all the time, but this was one of the best I have eaten in a long time. I grabbed some coffee to keep me warm, and we hit the streets.

The first stop was Central Park! It was absolutely beautiful, and it was hard not to take a picture of every snow filled corner. I was hoping to run in Central Park, but that was not even an option on this trip.

After Central Park, we headed over to FAO Schwartz to defrost a little. It was a toy wonderland. There were soldiers made out of jelly beans, muppet workshops, and a gigantic floor piano. We had a blast!

We wandered around a little more and visited Tiffany’s and Rockefeller Center. Then we headed to Greenwich Village and ate at Hummus Place. It would have made sense to order hummus, but the warm soup sounded much more comforting after being out in the cold all morning.

Stay tuned….there is yet another NYC post coming your way!
