NYC Excitement and Update!
Monday is the BIG day! I will be headed to NYC for the cake decorating event with Kelly Ripa to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Fifteen bloggers will be attending, and we have been broken into 5 teams. We will be decorating cakes, and they will be going up on Kelly Confidential for voting!! I am excited to work with the bloggers chosen to be on my team: Laura @ The Cooking Photographer and Sandra @ No One Puts Cupcake in a Corner. I also got the exciting news today that we will be attending the Live with Regis and Kelly show, and that the Cake Boss will be helping us during the cake decorating event!!!
As I have been preparing for the trip, I have been reading a little bit about the cause for which the event is being held. I did not know much about ovarian cancer and wanted to learn more about it. I was interested to learn about ways to prevent it and what foods might aid in prevention. I found this article on msnbc that reports on the importance of 2 specific flavanoids in ovarian cancer prevention: kaempferol, which is found in tea, broccoli, kale and spinach, and luteolin, which is found in peppers, carrots, cabbage and celery. It is very easy to incorporate these cancer preventing food into a healthy diet. Here are two recipes from my blog friends that will help you incorporate cancer preventing veggies into your diet!

what an amazing opportunity and what an important reason. I am dedicated to ovarian cancer research. My close friend’s mom just lost her battle last year. It is a horrible disease that is usually not found until it is too late. PLEASE TELL KELLY THAT SHE SHOULD WALK IN THE AVON BY THE SEA WALK FOR KOHNJ. We need her help down in central jersey and she is a jersey girl.
