Holy Cannoli!

by megan on December 27, 2009

My family’s tradition is to have an Italian meal on Christmas Day. We really don’t have much Italian in our background, but my mom makes a wonderful spaghetti sauce with meatballs and hot Italian sausage that we look forward to every Christmas. After Christmas dinner, we always have cannolis. My sister and I have so much fun making them! We bought the shells at a local bakery and made the filling ourselves. Lucky us…there are several left over!

Cannoli Filling

Ingredients:

4 cups ricotta cheese

1 1/2 cups unsifted powdered sugar

4 tsp vanilla

1/2 cups chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. In large bowl, fold powdered sugar and vanilla into the ricotta cheese.
  2. Mix in the chocolate chips.
  3. Fill cannoli shells with filling.
  4. Sift powdered sugar over the top of the cannolis.

Some pictures of serious concentration while my sister and I prepare the cannolis:
