Yesterday, I received the exciting news that the Ghostly Cereal Treats I created were chosen to appear on BettyCrocker.com. Check out the Ghostly Cereal Treats and other blogger’s spooky creations on the I Love Cereal page. Visit BettyCrocker.com to find more holiday snacks and get details on how you can submit a recipe and image for the chance to be appear on the homepage this Halloween!
These fun ghostly treats are similar to Rice Krispie Treats, but I used Count Chocula to make it more Halloween like. I created the ghost shapes by using small dixie cups as molds. Next, I covered them in vanilla candy coating, and then gave them personalities by adding eyes and mouths. Kids will love decorating and eating these sweet ghosts!
Ghostly Cereal Treats
Ingredients:
6 c. Count Chocula Cereal
1/4 c. butter
1 (10 1/2 oz.) bag miniature marshmallows
2 Packages (16 OZ) Vanilla CandiQuik Candy Coating
1 tube black decorating icing
12 (3 oz.) Dixie Cups
Directions:
- Prepare Dixie cups with nonstick cooking spray.
- Microwave butter in large mixing bowl on high for 45 seconds or until melted.
- Add marshmallows; stir to combine.
- Microwave 1 1/2 minutes or until smooth, stirring after 45 seconds.
- Add cereal; stir until well coated.
- Press mixture into Dixie cups.
- Cool for at least one hour.
- Use scissors to cut along the sides of the Dixie cups, and peel the cups away to remove the cereal treats.
- Place cereal treats on wax paper.
- Melt candy coating according to package instructions.
- Using a spoon, coat cereal treats until they are fully covered.
- Let dry for 1-2 hours.
- Use black icing to create eyes and mouths on the ghosts.
- Store leftover ghosts in an airtight container.
- Enjoy!
