Check out this amazing cake! This cake creation was the handiwork of my friend Rashele. She made this pirate ship cake for her son Mason’s pirate themed birthday party earlier this month. I am hoping to share many more of her creations in the future. You should see the sushi cake she made. I think Rashele and my sister have inspired me to take some cake decorating classes. I wish I could make creations like this!

Oh, wow, that’s a heck of a cake! Would have loved to see the look of awe on her son and his friends’ faces.

Aw. How cool. My mom and I made one *just* like that (with Lego characters atop) for my sister’s 6th bday party!

Wow. That looks wonderful! I took a cake decorating class when I was 8 and got yelled at by my pregnant/moody teacher. Never went back. :-( I should try it on my own.

This is a really cute cake! My friend has asked me to make her son one just like it, so I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind. First, how did she do the black stripes? And what is the deck railing made of? Fondant? Thanks!

Just a question about the actual cake inside. What shaped cake did she bake (circle, rectangle…) and how many? I’m just trying to work out how to get the ship shape before I would ice it.
